Court questions Atishi’s right to record petition opposite Gautam Gambhir

A Delhi justice on Wednesday asked AAP’s Lok Sabha claimant from East Delhi, Atishi, to infer her area standi for filing a petition opposite her BJP opposition Gautam Gambhir for allegedly enrolling as a voter in dual Assembly segments.

Advocate Karuna Nundy, appearing for Ms. Atishi , told a justice that Mr. Gambhir was a “dead male walking. He is not authorised to opinion and will be unfit as a candidate”.

“Even if he wins, people of East Delhi should not be saddled with an MP who has no possibility of presence in a nearby future. Voters should not be done to suffer,” she told a court.

The justice has posted a matter for serve conference on May 6, 6 days before Delhi goes to polls. The plea, filed by disciple Mohd Irshad on Thursday, purported that Mr. Gambhir has enrolled “deliberately” and “illegally” as a voter in Karol Bagh and Rajinder Nagar Assembly segments.
