The state Congress office witnessed yet another round of protest on Monday against Shatrughan Sinha, the sitting MP and party’s candidate from the Patna Sahib, with a section of party workers demanding that the party name a new nominee for the prestigious Lok Sabha seat.
The protest was led by former Congress candidate from Jiradei in Siwan, Vinay Kumar Singh alias Bihari Bhaiyya, who said Sinha he was a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s agent planted in the Congress.
“On the day of his first visit to the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) headquarters, Sinha admitted he had joined the Congress on the advice of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and visited Rabri Devi soon after the programme,” said Singh, who was accompanied by scores of other workers holding placards asking the party not to field Sinha from Patna Sahib.
The protest continued for over an hour at the BPCC office, during which the agitated members also declared Madan Mohan Jha as the worst ever president of the party and demanded his immediate removal. They also demanded action against Sinha for acting in violation of the party’s spirit in Lucknow, where he recently praised SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati as the PM material.
“How can we tolerate if a star campaigner of the Congress would campaign against its own candidate in Lucknow, Acharya Pramod Krishnan,” asked the agitating leader.
Media in-charge of the BPCC, H K Verma, however, dismissed it as a minor incident. “The protest does not carry any worth as no member of the party, except Vinay Kumar Singh, was present at the BPCC office at the time. Singh has not been active in the party since long,” said Verma, adding that such protests were being sponsored by the BJP to create confusion among the masses.
