In its chargesheet against Muzammil Tazdar, accused in a fraud case, filed Friday, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has named his ‘mentor’ Ritesh Chaturvedi as a wanted accused. The chargesheet also lists details of the 39 bank accounts that Tazdar allegedly set up in various banks in Mumbai and Thane, using forged documents through accomplices.
Tazdar was arrested by the crime branch on October 15 in connection with an illegal transfer of Rs 12.5 lakh form the account of actor Raveena Tandon’s husband Anil Thadani. On Friday, the police filed a chargesheet in the case against Tazdar and eight other accused, including Thadani’s accountant Omprakash Pathak, who allegedly stole Thadani’s chequebook and gave it to Tazdar.
On November 1, Newsline had reported how Tazdar had been ‘coached’ by Chaturvedi in phishing and related scams, after which he built his own network.
Police said Tazdar and Chaturvedi met on the sets of a photo shoot around three years ago. The duo were trying their luck as models then, police said.
