The Bachchan family is one of the most influential families in Bollywood – that is a fact known to all. However, there is also an element of intrigue when it comes to them. This time around, Koffee With Karan 6, after trying many permutations and combinations in the past few seasons, decided to bring together the Bachchan siblings on the couch together. And not surprisingly, there were some skeletons that stumbled out of the closet.
Well, the episode started on a nostalgic note with Karan Johar sharing his childhood memories with the Bachchans since he has grown up with them. After their arrival, soon the conversation drifted about Shweta Bachchan Nanda, who has started to come to limelight of late as a designer and much more recently, as an author. She has been exploring the periphery of industries related to entertainment but has never completely ventured into acting. One of the reasons, as stated by her during the show, is that she doesn’t believe she has what it takes to be an actor.
Well, obviously favouritism too was one of the integral conversations and it seems that Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda are an apt example of Daddy’s Girl and Mama’s Boy.
The conversation also shifted to her daughter Navya Naveli who has suddenly started acquire fame and her social media persona seem to have already garnered a fan following. The worried mother however discussed the pros and cons and the heartbreaks that the industry can give. Shweta, very honestly, spoke about the way she has seen the other side of Bollywood wherein the actors, who are showered with praises, also face disappointment and frustration when their career doesn’t take off as expected. Her candid revelation was also mixed with her concern as a mother wherein she asserted that she wouldn’t want her daughter to go through those off days when things don’t work out the way it should. Yet, she was quick to add that she will always support her decision of doing what she likes.
Right during the middle of this conversation, there was a moment when Karan ended up spilling coffee on him and Shweta reacted quite instinctively. That was the moment when Karan gave a glimpse of her OCD about hygiene and cleanliness. He later went on to speak about it in a later segment of the show, wherein he also revealed that his BFF, that is Shweta also has a compulsive disorder to message and WhatsApp people.
On the other hand, the topic also focused on Abhishek and his dynamics with Amitabh Bachchan as a father as well as a megastar. The actor uninhibitedly confessed that both his parents are his tough critics. And that Amitabh never minces words before telling Abhishek about his films. However, his reaction after watching Manmarziyaan was quite emotional. According to what Shweta Nanda said, the megastar got emotional after watching Abhishek in the film, so much that he ended up crying.
Amidst all the talks, there was also a long discussion about the relationship that Jaya Bachchan shares with the paparazzi. Junior AB and Shweta spoke about the actress’ claustrophobic feelings when she is surrounded by camera. However, Abhishek was quick to defend saying that now she has become much better. Speaking of her fear of paparazzi, Abhishek revealed that now cameramen themselves ask her to move ahead.
The discussion soon drifted to the WhatsApp group of the Bachchan household wherein the most active member is expected to be Jaya Bachchan. Some family dynamics and WhatsApp habits of the family members were discussed wherein Shweta shared that her son Agastya is quite skilled in making memes of his Mamu [uncle] Abhishek Bachchan. And Abhishek spoke about his father Amitabh Bachchan and his late replies considering that he is one of the newest members on the chat.

The Rapid Fire round of this episode was quite simple with Shweta Bachchan giving out some interesting answers. One of them included where she had to give out an alternate profession for her father and she suggested that he would make a good Head of organizations like CIA because his mind is quite sharp that way. On the other hand, she also mentioned that she thinks Deepika has a better sense of fashion because her kind of fashion resembles something that she would like to wear.
Well, besides all these, there were quite a bit of sibling bond and rivalry that we got to see between the two Bachchans. Abhishek Bachchan revealed about how he spent his pocket money shopping for his sister. Also, Abhishek was quite candid in pulling Karan’s leg and revealed about the time when he and Shweta became friends. The actor mentioned that it was his 7th birthday and when they were celebrating it in Madh Island, he and his friends had tied Karan and Shweta to a tree an entire afternoon and that’s how they became friends. Abhishek also reminisced about the costume that Karan was wearing then which was a red underwear over blue stockings and he came dressed as a Superman whereas Duggu aka Hrithik came as a Cowboy. Considering all the revelations, it was Shweta Bachchan Nanda who came out as a winner eventually and she was super thrilled adding that she has never won anything by far.
Followed by this, was the quiz segment and this time it was centred on Bollywood, Sports, General Knowledge and also their parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan clearly emerged as a winner and courtesy for that was also his phone call to his mother where she had to say, ‘Hey Karan, It’s Me!’ The star kids were asked to call one of their parents to do this and Abhishek managed it without much effort.
All in all, it was one helluva of sibling love-hate episode!
