What have you done for the Almora seat in the past five years as an MP?
As many as 104,494 farmers will be given income support under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi in Almora district, 47,340 in Bageshwar, 38,399 in Champawat and 73,744 in Pithoragarh.
About 37,000 farmers from the Almora parliamentary seat have benefited under the farmers’ insurance scheme. Loans worth Rs 152.74 crore have been sanctioned in Almora under the Mudra yojana. About 10 lakh accounts have been opened in Almora under the Jan Dhan scheme. About 16,000 people have been registered under the Atal Pension Scheme. 41,700 cylinders have been distributed in my constituency under the Ujjwala scheme.
What is your agenda for education and healthcare sectors as their neglect is said to be leading to migration?
A residential university has been opened in Almora that will prove to be beneficial for the students from the whole state as it is providing skill- based professional education. The construction of the medical college and nursing college has begun in the city.
Why has a portion of the MPLADS funds been unspent?
You have to first understand that the MPLADS funds are released when 80% of the previous allotment has been spent. I have sanctioned the money for various works and it is upon the various executing agencies in the 4 districts under my constituency to carry out the works.
What are your projects for the future if you are chosen for another term as MP?
I have a vision for the Almora seat. I want to conduct a survey for the Ramnagar-Chaukhutiya Gairsain railway line so that the people of the hills get the benefit of trains. Apart from this, I will improve the road network under the PMGSY scheme. The Chardham route must be extended to Kumaon and the pilgrims returning from the four shrines should pass through other temples Kumaon, such as Jageshwar dham, Purnagiri, Nainia Devi and Haat Kalika. I also have a plan for developing more parking space in Almora city so that the commuters do not face problems. I will promote industries in the hills for increasing employment opportunities and curbing migration.
