A three-day ‘Training of Trainers Programme’ on policies and programmes of education for the youth was organised at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, on Tuesday.
As many as 25 district youth coordinators of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal attended the programme.
The youth coordinator will also frame an action plan towards the end of the programme for ensuring individual and collective action through their respective kendras.
Director, RGNIYD, M.M. Goel, while delivering the inaugural speech, said that to ensure quality in education, it was necessary to understand its processes involving students (input), teachers (processors) and quality and quantity (output).
“Students need motivation from trainers. Teachers have become ‘vocational’ as a part of earning their livelihoods instead of leading as a mission,” he said.
The training programme was held under the aegis of the Centre for Training and Capacity Building under the leadership of Vasanthi Rajendran.
