Traffic to be diverted for Republic Day and rehearsals

The Chennai traffic police has announced a series of diversions on Kamarajar Salai in view of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and rehearsals on 19, 22 and 24.

The stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Light House up to War Memorial will be closed for all vehicular traffic from 6 a.m till 10 a.m.

Bus route 27D will be diverted at R.K. Salai-V.M. Street Junction. These vehicles will use Royapettah High Road, Luz Junction, R.K. Mutt Road and Mandaveli Junction to reach the Foreshore Estate.

Bus Route 21G from Luz Junction towards Broadway will be diverted via Nilgiris Junction, Music Academy, GRH, Roypettah Clock Tower, Whites Road, Smith Road and Anna Salai to its destination. Bus routes 12G and 45B from Luz Junction will also be diverted on the same route to reach Anna Square.

The Anna Square bus terminus will be temporarily shifted to Wallajah Road near Government Guest House.

For commercial vehicles

Commercial vehicles coming from Adyar towards Broadway will be diverted at Greenways Point towards R.K. Mutt Road and they will reach their destination through Luz Junction, Royapettah Clock Tower and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.

Other vehicles, including MTC buses from Adyar towards Broadway will be diverted at Santhome High Road-Kutchery Road Junction towards Kutchery Road. They will reach Broadway through Luz Church Road, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Whites Road and Anna Salai. Vehicles coming from Parry’s Corner and intending to proceed towards Adyar will be diverted at RBI subway (north) towards Raja Annamalai Mandram. They will reach their destination via Muthusamy Point, Anna Salai, Royapettah Clock Tower, Whites Road, Anna Salai, American Consulate Service Road, Cathedral Road, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai and Santhome High Road. No vehicle will be allowed from Wallajah Point towards War Memorial.
