Nigerian among three held, drugs seized

Three men, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested by the city police for smuggling drugs and supplying it to customers in parties at star hotels. The police seized cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine and other drugs from them.

The city police recently received reports that a few persons had been smuggling drugs from The Netherlands. Acting on a tip-off that one such consignment would be handled by a Nigerian, the police laid a trap and arrested them while exchanging drugs in a lodge in Porur. During interrogation, the Nigerian identified himself as Chukwu Simon Obinna,30, from Abuja. Three local conduits were arrested.

The SRMC police booked a case against them under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) on recovery of 18 g cocaine, 8 g MDMA, 10 g Black meth, 512 Ecstasy pills, cash and laptop from them. They were remanded to judicial custody after they were produced before a metropolitan magistrate court.
