Pleasant weather is likely to prevail in the city with chances of mild rain in the next 24 hours.
According to Area Cyclone Warning Centre director S. Balachandran, the low pressure area is likely to intensify into a depression in the south east Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. “In Tamil Nadu, only a few places may receive moderate rainfall and a very few will receive heavy rainfall,” he said.
Fishermen have been advised not to go deep into the Bay of Bengal or around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Strong winds from the north-easternly direction with speeds of up to 45-55 kmph are likely along and off the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast, said a communication from Area Cyclone Warning Centre, Chennai.
