The city may experience light to moderate showers for the next 24 hours, according to officials of the Meteorological Department.
Though the day is likely to remain sunny, there may be mild showers in the evening or night due to convective activity, the officials said. “The sky is likely to be generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively,” an official said.

As far as the rest of Tamil Nadu is concerned, Devala (in Nilgiris district), Anaikaranchatram, Nagapattinam and Valangaiman (in Tiruvarur) received the highest of 5 cm of rainfall for a 24-hour period, that ended at 8.30 a.m. on Friday, officials said. Some districts in the State, like Kanniyakumari, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga, are likely to have light to moderate showers in the next few days.
