How would it be to learn the periodic table through a rap song? Or learning about the water cycle, Doppler effect and other concepts in the classroom by singing them? Songs based on classroom concepts took the centre stage at the Rhapsody Annual Singing Challenge 2018 where nearly 28 teams from both government and private schools participated.
Students of the Panchayat Union Primary school from Kanappa Swamy Nagar and a team from the Lalaji Omega memorial school, Kolapakkam, bagged the first place in their respective categories.
Distributing the prizes, K. Pandiarajan, Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture, stressed on the need to give equal importance to extra-curricular activities in schools, along with academics.
The initiative, started by pianist Anil Srinivasan and Sudha Raja, a choral music expert and supported by Sudhakar Kadavasal, entrepreneur and philanthropist, aims to take education through music to classrooms across the country.
