Motorists negotiating the intersection of E.V.R. Periyar Road and East Coast Road in Palavakkam have requested the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) to prevent parking of share-autos at the intersection. Motorists coming from E.V.R. Periyar Road and entering East Coast Road (towards Thiruvanmiyur and Akkarai) are not able to turn left or right at the intersection.
Similarly, motorists coming from Palavakkam and taking a u-turn at the intersection are also similarly handicapped.
During their busy hours, operators line up autos and share-autos without much space seperating every two vehicles. As a result of this, the free flow of vehicular traffic towards Thiruvanmiyur and Akkarai is affected.
Besides, motorists have appealed to the GCTP to place stop-line boards at the intersection. Motorists coming from E. V. R. Periyar Road and entering the eastern lane of ECR towards Akkarai halt on ECR.
As a result, motorists coming from Neelankarai and Injambakkam are unale to proceed towards Kottivakkam, and motorists coming from Kottivakkam are not able to take a right turn to enter E. V. R. Periyar Road, says K. Nataraj, a resident of M. K. Stalin Avenue, Palavakkam.
