The Kancheepuram police have released the photo of one the suspects, who along with six others, was involved in stealing ₹11 crore worth of gold, diamond and platinum jewellery from the staff of Kiran Rao, a city-based businesswoman, near Chengalpattu on Sunday.
A reward for those giving information has been announced.
On Sunday, Dayanidhi, a senior staff of Kiran Rao’s company, and four others were returning to the city from Madurai with jewellery in suitcases and ₹7 lakh in a car.
After crossing the toll gate in Paranur, a gang of seven, posing as Idol Wing Police, took away the suitcases with jewels. Realising that they had been conned, he lodged complaint with the Chengalpattu taluk police station.
On Wednesday, the police released a CCTV grab of a youngster riding a red motorcycle. “Those with information about this person can contact the police and their identity will be kept a secret.
