Idol ‘missing’from temple

A former IAS officer had lodged a complaint with the Sholavaram police alleging that an emerald idol worth ₹2 crore was missing from a temple which he manages in Old Alamathy village on the Redhills-Tiruvallur High Road.

Sivakumar, the complainant, is administering a Murugan temple built 10 years ago. He said he had been performing pujas regularly to the idol at the the temple.

On Friday morning, he found the idol missing. Following his complaint, DSP Raja and other police officials inspected the spot. Further investigation is on.
