Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Tuesday urged hoteliers to promote cleanliness, transparency and reasonableness in pricing with sincerity.
Addressing the annual meet of the Chennai Hotels Association (CHA) here at Hotel New Woodlands, he said the industry should also take up green energy initiatives and step up efforts to avoid food wastage.
He said that with many people travelling for pleasure, work and on pilgrimage, the industry was opening up providing employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled labour. Mr. Purohit also presented the best hoteliers performance awards and released a members’ directory.
Former judge of the Madras High Court P. Jyothimani underlined the need for solid waste management in restaurants. Tamil Nadu Hotels Association president M. Venkadasubbu said that many civic bodies were happy with hotels reducing plastics and switching over to cloth bags for parcels. CHA president M. Ravi said that their association was a 100 years old and had seen many pioneers.
Aachi Masala founder A.D. Padmasingh Isaac, Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangam Peramaippu president A.M. Vikramaraja, participated. CHA office-bearers A. Ramadas Rao and R. Rajkumar; and Tamil Nadu Hotels Association secretary R. Srinivasan were present on the occasion.
