In a bid to arm painters with a government certificate, Nippon Paint (India) Private Limited’s decorative division on Friday announced its tie-up with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) and the Paints and Coatings Skill Council (PCSC).
Through this programme, 10,000 painters across the State will be retrained and provided Recognition of Prior Learning certification. Nippon Paint will provide free professional painter’s training at its PROceed Training Academy to help painters obtain the TNSDC certification. This will provide them recognition as professional painters.
The training focuses on equipping the painters with the necessary skills required to meet current industry requirements. This would help the painters to move up the value chain as government-certified professional painters.
S. Mahesh Anand, president, decorative division, Nippon Paint India, said that in the first phase, they plan to train 3,000 painters this quarter.
