Chennai firm brings out paid menstrual leave policy

Magzter, a digital magazine news stand based in Chennai, has brought out a paid menstrual leave policy for women in their organisation.

The Chennai-based organisation announced that they will offer an optional one-day paid leave every month, to all the women employees in the organisation, which can be availed on the first day or second day of their period.

This is over and above the normal leave an employee is entitled to, a press release from the organisation said.

Explaining the process, the release said that the employee would be required to inform their respective reporting manager on the particular day on or before 10 a.m. either by email or message.

“We are the first company in Chennai and the fourth company in India, to our knowledge, to bring out this policy and we hope that more organisations take this step,” the release added.
