Bal Sahitya awards given away

Tamil poet Vairamuthu appreciated the Sahitya Akademi for uniting the country on the occasion of Children’s Day by felicitating and awarding writers of children’s literature on Thursday.

Mr. Vairamuthu, participating in the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2019 ceremony at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore, gave away the awards to writers of children’s poems and books in languages including Bodo, Assamese, Telugu and Marathi.

Mr. Vairamuthu, praising Devi Nachiyappan, a well known publisher of children’s books, for receiving the award, said that her father Azha Valliappa was a famous poet who was called ‘Kuzhandai Kavignar’.
