AIADMK accuses Stalin of violating poll code

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has complained to poll authorities, alleging that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M.K. Stalin violated the model code of conduct.

In letters to Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo, the AIADMK alleged that Mr. Stalin had, while campaigning in Tiruporur recently, instigated people to indulge in corrupt practices.

Besides, on Tuesday night, when the silence period was in force, he had given an interview to the media.

R.M. Babu Murugavel, spokesperson of the ruling party, who made the complaints, accused the DMK, the Congress and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam of resorting to violence.

He wanted authorities to initiate criminal action against those who were engaged in and were seeking to involve in acts of crime.

Mr. Murugavel also requested poll authorities to increase the strength of the police at over 4,900 identified “sensitive” polling booths.
