Six Suffocate To Death In A Septic Tank In Bihar

Motihari, Bihar: 

Six persons, 4 of them members of a same family, died of suffocation after inhaling unwholesome gases when they entered a septic tank in East Champaran district, military said.

The occurrence took place during a residence of Dinesh Mahto, 45, in Bela Jeepur encampment underneath Jitna military hire area, Deputy Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar Singh said.

He pronounced Dinesh entered a septic tank to purify it and a 5 others also went inside it to rescue him after realizing that he had depressed unconscious.

They also died after inhaling unwholesome gases in a tank, a DSP said.

The other 5 were his mother Bachani Devi, sons Mohan Mahto and Basant Kumar, besides neighbours Sachin Mahto and Saroj Mukhiya, a emissary SP said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
