‘Make use of Aadhaar for marker of visitors in jails’, Ahir advises states, UTs

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday suggested all states and Union Territories to make use of Aadhaar for marker of visitors in jails to safeguard that comforts are being availed by certified individuals. 

“‘Prisons’ is a State theme as per entrance 4 of List II of a Seventh Schedule to a Constitution of India.  The administration and government of prisons is essentially a shortcoming of particular State Government,” MoS Home Hansraj Ahir pronounced in a created respond to a doubt in a Lok Sabha today.

“However, a Ministry of Home Affairs has suggested all States and Union Territories (UTs) to make use of Aadhaar for marker of visitors to safeguard that comforts are being availed by certified individuals,” Ahir told Lok Sabha today. 

The Minister also suggested all States and UTs that jail inmates should also be Aadhaar seeded so that several aspects of day to day jail administration can be regulated by use of Aadhaar. 

“The Ministry of Home Affairs has also suggested all States and UTs that jail inmates should also be Aadhaar seeded so that several aspects of day to day jail administration like prolongation before court, lapse to prison, transport, health facilities, interview, giveaway authorised aid, parole, proxy recover mechanism, educational/vocational training, recover from jail etc. can be regulated by use of Aadhaar,” he said.
