Boat Capsizes in Bihar’s Kosi River, 8 Feared Drowned

Bhagalpur (Bihar): Eight persons, including 7 children aged between 6 and 12 years, were feared drowned in a Kosi stream on Sunday after a vessel they were travelling in, capsized, military said.

The boat, carrying 15 people, capsized nearby Ramnagar Bind Toli underneath Nagra encampment panchayat of Naugachia military district.

Seven persons have been rescued, Naugachhia Superintendent of Police Nidhi Rani said.

The occurrence took place during around 3 pm when clever winds swept by a area and a boat, that was being “ferried illegally and was overloaded,” defeated underneath a impact, she said.

The occupants of a vessel were returning to Mohanpur in Purnea district, opposite a river, and they had come to Naugachia to attend a wedding, a SP said.
